When we moved to Chicago from New York and knew nobody, this city blew all sorts of things our way. Great new friends, food, a lake view that stretches to a horizon line (!); beautiful summers that make us less resentful of some of the vortexiest, coldest f*cking winters.Â
But I miss walking around Brooklyn and New York City – the risky outfits, the smell of my bodega in the morning, the cool-by-association feeling I got from just being in it everyday.Â
In Chicago, I’m sure it’s all here somewhere, but we definitely don’t walk for major parts of the year and we definitely don’t go out like we did in our 20’s.
So I find myself wandering the internet looking for the same cool shit I walked through every day.
I always have one million tabs open to come back to – a pair of jeans that so-and-so recommended (yes, I call my new friends so-and-so); a cute sweat set for one of my kids; a hotel I’d love to go to someday, a restaurant so-and-so recommended, a piece of art. When I discover something I like or find inspiring but I’m not quite ready to execute (read as: 98% of the time), I open a new tab and leave it there.
And I kind of feel like you might do it, too?
So… instead of keeping a million tabs open (but who are we kidding?), I’m going to start dragging them here to share them with you. And maybe you’ll share some of yours, too.
